About the Symposium
The “Days of Justinian I” is an annual interdisciplinary scholarly forum presenting research on Byzantine and Medieval Studies before 1500. It explores cultural, historical, and spiritual heritage as integrative components of Europe’s diversities and commonalities.
2026 Thematic Focus: Borders
The symposium investigates borders as physical realms, parish boundaries, borderlands, and metaphorical delimitations. Discussions will cover border wars, treaties, archaeology, policies, and the terminology used in medieval sources.

✦Excursion: Scheduled for November 1, covered by the organizer.
✦Publication: Papers will be peer-reviewed and published in the Proceedings of the Symposium.
